The Derecci Block (311-317 Broadway), in which the Fargoan Hotel was located, was built in 1913 by the Powers Brothers. The building was first used by the Y.W.C.A. as a rooming house. By 1927 the Fargo city directory listed the hotel as the Powers Annex Hotel. In November 1930, the Powers Brothers opened the newly renovated building, and named it the Fargoan Hotel.
