King William Lofts is located at 212 Madison, where the property’s two warehouse buildings date all the way back to the 1920s. In 1921, Lawrence M. Samuels owned the Art Glass Company, located at 308 S. Alamo St. That year, he purchased a number of lots further down South Alamo Street, and by 1926 the Samuels Glass Company had relocated to his new property. After 1926, this real estate exchanged hands and went through a number of phases, including a plastic factory in the late 1960s, but it was eventually bought by local developers, who realized the location’s potential to become high-end lofts in downtown San Antonio. To bring their vision to life, they partnered with local architect Jim Poteet.
