4. Marlies
I typically stick to buying large scale artwork. I love having one large focal piece in the room, but when I came across Marlies on Instagram I made an exception and bought a print from her. Since she does small watercolor paintings, to keep the quality the prints are not made too large. First, let me say she was probably the best experience I’ve ever had buying from an artist. Not that I’ve ever had a bad one, she just stands out. I had her ship it to my dad’s house since I am currently on the road. No biggie there. The impressive part was that after she got the alert from the mail carrier that the print had arrived she took the time to follow up with me to make sure I had opened the package and was happy with the print. Now granted, I won’t be visiting my family till the holidays so I haven’t actually seen it in person, but there is no reason to assume I won’t love it. That simple follow up on her part though really stuck with me. As for the art itself, the first word that comes to mind is whimsical, which turns out is exactly the word she uses on her Instagram account so she has completely nailed what she was hoping to portray.
5. PichiAvo
There’s a good chance you’ve already seen this duo even if you didn’t know the name. PichiAvo murals can be found all over the world. Unless the average Joe Shmoe learns how to commit sophisticated art heists, we mere mortals will most likely never get our hands on an original, but PichiAvo does do limited edition releases so there is still hope to have them grace your walls.
