The cottages on Station Road were originally built in c. 1787 for Sir Henry Etherington II (the son of Henry Etherington I, a wealthy merchant who later became the Lord Mayor of Hull). Initially conceived as three separate cottages, they were conjoined in the early 19th century. Later, they were again separated into one larger and one smaller cottage for a recently married son of the then tenant.
