10 Lovely Living Rooms of 2022
Might as well start off the list with a bang while you reminisce of bell bottoms and play that funky music.
2. Tijeras, NM
Another 360° fireplace, but make it kiva style. This adobe home includes wood latilla ceilings, corbels & beams.
I’m sure there is a name for it, but I’m not sure what it is. The roof line lies somewhere between a sawtooth and butterfly style. Of course, you may not even notice given how remarkable the rest of the room is.
First celebrated in the pages of Architectural Digest in 1965, this a-frame has a sunken living room with tons of natural light.
The brick fireplace flanked by a wall of windows looking out to the backyard is only topped by the atrium on the opposite side of the room.
This condo in an old Firehouse reminds me of a upscale men’s club where Cuban cigars and whiskey are enjoyed by the fire. You can catch a glimpse of the balcony that’s accessed through fully retractable doors. The fireplace surround includes a hidden door and the staircase was sourced from an estate in Baltimore.
I think the other side of the stone wall is technically the living room, but you could probably get away with it on either side. The two rooms each offer a fireplace, wall of windows and steps up to the rest of the home.
8. Berkeley, CA
An arched front door opens to the coziest room on the list. Grab a book and a blank and settle in.
9. Boise, ID
For many of the rooms on this list, the focal point is the fireplace. While there is a fireplace in this living room, tucked off to the side, the focal point of this MCM beauty is the central swimming pool surrounded by 54 french doors bringing in natural light from every angle.
10. Ancram, NY
Exposed concrete, charred wood and angled floor to ceiling windows make this step down living room quite dramatic. For your comfort, it has heated floors and a suspended wood burning fireplace.
